Police Tasered 12-Year-Old For Crying After He Tackled Her Mother Over Traffic Ticket Warrants
A 12-year-old girl is recovering after being Tasered in a St. Louis Victoria’s Secret while police officers were trying to arrest her mother over warrants for traffic tickets.
The mother is now demanding an investigation, even though police insist their actions were appropriate.
Dejamon Baker showed KSDK the wounds on her chest and stomach from the Taser probes.
“This one goes in my chest,” the girl explained. “It was stuck in there so she had to keep on pulling trying to pull it out.”
“I had fell on the floor and I couldn’t control myself I just kept on shaking and stuff.”
A spokesperson for the police department said that Baker had interfered while officers were trying to arrest her mother, Charlene Bratton, for outstanding warrants due to unresolved traffic tickets.
“He said, put your hands behind your back. I said for what,” Bratton recalled. “Next thing you know he tackled me down on the ground.”
Both Baker and Bratton deny that the 12-year-old girl interfered with the arrest.
“I was just crying. I guess he got mad because I was crying or something, then he just took it out and just Tased me,” Baker insisted.
Bratton added: “He should have had enough control to tell her to get back instead of pulling out his gun, I guess he was nervous or whatever, and Tasing people.”
The police spokesperson said that the officer’s actions were justified, and advised Bratton to contact the department’s internal affairs division to launch an investigation.

Oklahoma Cop Uses Taser On Handcuffed Woman’s Breast
An Oklahoma woman is suing her local police station after an officer attacked her with his taser while she was handcuffed in jail - and it was all caught on tape.
The shocking video shows City of McAlester police officer Sterling Taylor-Santino stunning Nakina Williams in the chest at point-blank range while she is restrained inside Pittsburgh County Jail.
He continues to use the weapon on the woman, who had been arrested for drunken behaviour, for what seems like minutes as she runs around the booking area, attempting to get away from the taser.
Mr Taylor-Santino has been charged with assault using a dangerous weapon in the June 24 incident but Ms Williams, 27, is now seeking more than $2 million in damages, according to NewsOK.com.
According to the lawsuit, the officer used excessive force as he dealt with the handcuffed woman, who is less than 5 feet tall.
Ms Williams allegedly spat at the officer before he walked up to her and pressed the taser against her left breast.
The video shows a bolt of bluish-white light as the officer fires the weapon.
Ms Williams doesn’t fall to the ground during the attack but her lawyer claims the real damage was done when officers removed the taser’s barbs, out of the view of CCTV.
‘They sat her down on a bench and yanked them out… they were embedded in her upper-left breast, if you can imagine,’ Jeremy Beaver said.
‘They were supposed to take her to the hospital to remove those.’
The lawsuit also claims that Mr Taylor-Santino lied on a report he filed in connection with the taser episode, not realising the whole incident had been caught on CCTV.
‘In his ‘use of force report,’ (Mr Taylor-Santino) sought to cover up and/or conceal his actions… by omitting that (Ms Williams) was handcuffed when she was shot with the taser,’ the suit alleges.
The officer was suspended for two weeks but remains on the police force. He has pleaded not guilty in Pittsburgh County District Court.
The weapon manufacturer explicitly instructs users to avoid the chest area because of “potential cardiac consequences.” But more than 1 in 4 incidents involving a Taser involved shocks directly to the victim’s chest area.
why is no one talking about the fact that this is a Native woman???? Nakina is quoted in the Tulsa World as saying “We were having a conflict because I was drunk, and he called me a ‘drunk Indian.’” as awful as it is on its own, this isn’t just excessive force—this is racially motivated police brutality.
POC FUCKING SOLIDARITY. BLOW THIS SHIT UP. Say NO to violence against brown women!
That is so far beyond unacceptable. Glad this horrible racist is getting sued, hope she wins every penny.

“Career day” at Tularosa New Mexico Intermediate School went terribly wrong after a 10-year-old boy says a police officer used his Taser gun to show him what cops do to people who don’t follow orders.
Officer Chris Webb of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety is being sued in court after allegedly using his Taser-brand stun gun on a school playground to send 50,000 volts of electricity into a young boy’s body, forcing the child to blackout.
According to the complaint filed on behalf of the child, “Defendant Webb asked the boy, R.D., in a group of boys, who would like to clean his patrol unit,” when the officer came to the school earlier this year. “A number of boys said that they would. R.D., joking, said that he did not want to clean the patrol unit.”
Defendant Webb, the complaint suggests, responded by pointing his Taser at R.D. and saying, ‘Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police.’’ The officer then allegedly fired two barbs from the device at the child’s chest, penetrating his shirt.
“Instead of calling emergency medical personnel, Officer Webb pulled out the barbs and took the boy to the school principal’s office,” the complaint continues. When he attempted to remove the weapon attached to his skin, though, the 100-pound child passed out. Since then, he has been left with scars that are described in court as resembling cigarette burns.
A representative for the child says the boy has been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder since the incident occurred on May 4.
“The boy, R.D., has woken up in the middle of the night holding his chest, afraid he is never going to wake up again,” guardian ad litem Rachel Higgins tells the court.
“No reasonable officer confronting a situation where the need for force is at its lowest, on a playground with elementary age children, would have deployed the Taser in so reckless a manner as to cause physical and psychological injury,” Higgins adds.
Higgins is now suing the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and Officer Webb on behalf of the child in Santa Fe County Court, where she seeks punitive damages for the boy for battery, failure to render emergency medical care, excessive force, unreasonable seizure, and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention, Courthouse News reports.
for real this made me sick
this cop should never be allowed to work in any position of authority ever again
spoiler alert: nothing will happen to him because nothing ever does.

Beloved Cyclist “Chuey” Munkanita Beaten Unconscious and Arrested By Police
Kachusha “Chuey” Munkanita is one of the most beloved figures in the San Francisco cycling community. He’s known internationally for his hand-made cycling caps, made and sold right here in the Mission. And everyone, from MASH to PD Bird, know him to be a “peaceful” and “non-violent” person. He even delivers coffee, by bike, for De La Paz Coffee Roasters—a company undeniably of peace.
So it’s with great shock and disgust that we learn of his arrest and police beating while trying to monitor SFPD’s treatment of Latinos. A close friend of his forwarded along his story:
Thursday night/ Friday morning Chuey stopped on the side of the street in the Mission when he saw the cops having 4 Latinos lined up against a gate. He stopped to make sure the youth were being fairly treated.
The cops then asked him to cross the street, when Chuey said he couldn’t observe from across the street. They (2-3 cops) jumped him as he was hugging his bike. They wrestled him to the ground then continued to push him into the ground, twisting his arm, slamming his head into the ground. He was in jail for almost 24 hours and released after his family paid bail. They charged him with 3 felonies for assaulting 3 cops with enough force to cause grave bodily harm and 2 misdemeanors for resisting arrest.
Chuey was released on $150,000 bail and arraigned yesterday afternoon at the Superior Court of California, where he was issued a public defender. Chuey is also faced with steep medical costs after having to visit the ER for his injuries, where doctors advised him to have a cat scan.
Currently, there is no fundraiser planned to aid in his defense, but friends are encouraging people to purchase his caps, helping support him financially in any way possible. You can get his caps online at Mission Bicycleor MASH (who will donate all proceeds to his defense), or in person at Box Dog Bikes or Pushbike.
Update: Roaring Mouse Cycles and All Hail the Black Market are also donating their cut of Chuey caps to his legal aid.
ugh i’ve seen this guy riding around a lot
i’m heartbroken. please help if you can

Justice for Deaf Woman Tasered and Jailed by Police!
Lashonn White is a deaf woman who called 911 after being attacked in her apartment. Instead of being helped, Tacoma police tasered her and put her in jail for 60 hours without an interpreter.
Two police officers were dispatched who had been told that she is deaf. She ran outside to meet them, and immediately, Officer Koskovich tasered her in her rib and stomach. Because of the fall, she suffered heavy bleeding from her knuckles, injuries to her cheek, chin, ribs, neck, and arms, and swelling on the right side of her face.
Then they handcuffed her — she was incredibly confused as to why she was under arrest, and couldn’t talk to the officers because they don’t know sign language. Koskovich said that he had yelled for White to stop, but she had ignored him, when she actually couldn’t hear him.
Please tell the Tacoma Police Department that all officers need to receive training concerning disabled individuals and to do a full investigation of the incident. Get justice for Lashonn White!

She is also BLACK. Please note that deaf black people have been harassed and threatened many more times than white deaf people. Maybe if she was white, this would have never happened. FUCK THE POLICE.
WTF is wrong with cops in my state? Well, cops pretty much everywhere, but there are tons of local stories like this. It’s sickening.
God damn it, Tacoma.
The Trayvon Martin story remains in national headlines this week, but little media attention has been paid to a similarly troubling case: that of Kenneth Chamberlain, Sr., a 68-year-old Marine vet killed in his home last November by police officers in White Plains, NY.
The officers were responding to a false alarm accidentally triggered by Chamberlain’s medical alert pendant while he slept. Instead of helping the man, who had a heart condition, they broke down his front door, tasered him, reportedly called him the “n-word” and mocked him, then shot him dead.
Audio throughout the incident was recorded by his medical alert device.

This is important. Pepper spray should only ever be used to pacify a dangerous suspect. In this case it is being administered as a punishment, in clear violation of the 8th amendment…

I dare someone to tell me this is an isolated incident with the police, and that most police at basically good. BULLSHIT!

Seattle activist Dorli Rainey, 84, reacts after being hit with pepper spray during an Occupy Seattle protest on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Westlake Park. Protesters gathered in the intersection of 5th Avenue and Pine Street after marching from their camp at Seattle Central Community College in support of Occupy Wall Street. Many refused to move from the intersection after being ordered by police. Police then began spraying pepper spray into the gathered crowd hitting dozens of people. this is heartbreaking
I just want to reiterate, the fact that people are surprised that this was aired is a sad commentary on the state of our media. Sure, we still have free press under the law, but not under the companies that own these news outlets. I miss the days of REAL journalism.ALL THE MOTHER FUCKING AWARDS TO THIS REPORTER.
Holy shit I cannot even believe they aired this. ldkjk;lsakd I’m just in shock right now.
Ask yourself exactly what it means when you’re shocked as most people are that they aired this. Think about that for a minute. Do we really have freedom of speech?
Everyone needs to watch this. at the very least, support the protesters, even if it’s just signal boosting.
i cannot believe this actually aired.
I’ve seen a lot of those individual clips through tumblr, but watching them strung together with a public someone condemning the police brutality makes it more poignant for me. I want every reporter in America to report on Occupy Wall Street and police brutality everywhere, Wall Street and not. These cavalier and nonchalant violent displays of power sicken me and make me want to be violent myself. Consciously though, if I were ever in a situation like that, I would hope to remain peaceful and that I was being filmed.
I hated cops on instinct growing up. Then I met some and I disliked them with reason while still hating on instinct. Then I saw videos and heard stories of police brutality and I feel like a volcano. This type of behavior is despicable, disgusting, and fucking wrong.
